THE BIG PARTY IS THIS SUNDAY NIGHT, AUG. 28, 2011 - 7:30 PM

I'm getting excited about seeing all my friends and anyone who likes to dance, laugh, and have a good time at my "Third 20th" Birthday Party on Aug. 28, 2011 at Temple Emmanu-El in Dallas. The official announcement here can be clicked to be enlarged to make it easier to read.

Prizes will be given away, including a three day/two night hotel stay, compliments of my Ambit Energy partner John West. Admission is $10 - just pay at the door. Doors open at 7 pm.

You will enjoy the music of the DOC GIBBS BAND, playing your favorite ballroom, pop, country, Latin and Swing tunes. Dance hosts will dance with unescorted ladies. We'll have a few line dances and mixer dances so EVERYBODY can get up on the dance floor. Light snacks will be served -- chicken hors d’oeuvres and meatballs, plus chips, cookies, fresh veggies, and light beverages. Temple Emmanu-El allows you to BYOB and even bring your own food -- but no shellfish or pork products, please.

There will also be comedy, singing impressions and guest musicians to spice up the evening and two BIG SCRUMPTUOUS Birthday Cakes. Questions? Call me at (972) 462-1883.

CAR ACCIDENT KNOCKS OVER DOC'S VAN

Knocked over van-Doc was pinned in on drivers side.

Vera and Lewisville TX policeman survey overturned van.

When my world turned upside-right: Driving my van to a restaurant, I got hit by a sporty white Pontiac Firebird [edit-09/26/10] rushing full throttle through a stop sign (9:30 pm, Sept. 9, 2010, in the Vista Ridge Mall area in Lewisville TX).

It knocked my van over sideways. My wife and I had to heave our way UPWARDS to exit from the passenger door. Lots of broken glass and frayed nerves, but we suffered just a few scrapes, and a little blood and soreness. I think we'll be OK. The van is ruined. (See photos -- ya think??)The policeman took us to Denny's Restaurant, where we were headed in the first place, and we had a late night bite to eat, while waiting for a ride home. Staff at the Lewisville Denny's were exemplary. It helped that the manager was a registered nurse and the assistant was an EMT trainee. Thank you to all the well-wishers from church and college, and my new friends at Ambit Energy. Praise the Lord we live to see another day...but I do need a new van.
